Texas Mother Charged After Son’s Bully Falls Ill from Altered Drink

Jennifer Lynn Rossi, age 45, is from Texas. She has a 10-year-old son who attends Legacy Traditional School, located in Alamo Ranch, approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, Texas. Rossi’s son was being bullied at school by another child, who would take his bottle and drink from it every day. On Thursday, March 5, 2024, Rossi made a sports drink for her son, which included lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and a mixture of Gatorade. Rossi deliberately made this sports drink to prevent the child from bothering her son.

The bully snatched and drank the bottle from Rossi’s son in the gym class. Although the drink was non-toxic, it caused the bully to develop a headache and nausea, leading him to be taken to the hospital. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said in its statement, “Upon arriving at the school, deputies learned that the sick child was given a drink by a classmate during P.E. class.”

Rossi was arrested on charges of causing physical harm to a child. Rossi’s son told authorities that his mother, Rossi, had made the drink. Rossi informed the school principal and the deputies that she made the drink solely to stop the child who bullied her son every day and took his drink from him. Rossi stated in her declaration that she is a nurse and the drink was non-toxic.

Legacy Traditional Schools sent a statement to KSAT in which it was mentioned that Rossi’s son is subject to disciplinary actions. Jennifer Lynn Rossi was charged with injury to a child resulting in bodily injury-reckless by omission, a state jail felony.
